2021 Cabernet Sauvignon, Alexander Valley
2021 Cabernet Sauvignon, Alexander Valley
The Alexander Valley AVA is a Mediterranean climate with wet, cool winters and arid summers that are tempered by the nearby Pacific Ocean influence. The rocky volcanic soils of the valley are well-drained and characterized by a diverse mineral composition which helps Bordeaux grape tannin profiles thrive. The results are fruit that achieves a balanced ripeness profile maximizing vibrancy and complexity of flavors.
The 2021 Vintage enjoyed near-perfect growing conditions with warmer-than-usual temperatures and less-than-normal rainfall. Moderate-to-warm daytime temperatures followed by cool evenings allowed the fruit to ripen evenly. These conditions provided excellent acid & flavor development.
Black cherry, black currant, chocolate, boysenberry, sweet tobacco & dried herb aromas are laced with hints of clove & brown sugar. The palate has an alluring weight & velvety texture filled with intense flavors of black cherries, fig, cocoa powder, & blackberries, all elevated by a lovely backbone of spice notes from extended aging in French oak barrels. Toasted caramel & dark raspberry hints through the long, spice-kissed finish.
Drink now through 2030.
