ANDREW PHIPPS | FOUNDER/WINEMAKER

Andy Phipps is a third-generation Californian who got bit by the wine bug during a semester abroad in France. Two short years later and after a sales career at Coca-Cola, Andy met the Cellar Master at Beaulieu Vineyard (BV) and was offered a General Winery Worker position.

Andy worked throughout the cellar, in the wine lab, on the crush pad, bottling line and, briefly, under André Tchelistcheff, aka the Maestro, on experimental lots during André’s final year consulting at BV. This experience taught Andy the fundamentals of classic winemaking (fermentation sciences, oak finishing, cleanliness and the art of blending). After working in production, Andy worked as both a Trade Representative in the BV Hospitality Center & Georges deLaTour Private Reserve Room. He then joined the National Sales Team, as a Sales Development Analyst, where he led distributor & national sales management, national sales analysis, sales forecasting & the 5-yr biz plan.

Phipps Family Cellars (PFC) was founded in 2004 with a desire to create small lot wines from coveted vineyards for memorable occasions. In 20 harvests, Phipps Family Cellars has grown from producing 330 cases of Zinfandel to over 3,500 cases of various varietals annually. In 2007, Phipps Family Cellars added the STATUS QUO label (our homage to André Tchelistcheff), and in 2015 our third label, the CALIFORNIA Wine Company was introduced to offer everyday-priced wines.

JENNIFER PHIPPS | CO-PROPRIETOR

Jennifer brings her experience with operations, fulfillment & wine accounting to bear at Phipps Family Cellars.

Following her return to the Napa Valley in 1994, Jennifer worked as a Corporate Trainer for the Houston’s Restaurant Group (now Hillstone Restaurants) and Operations Manager at Falcor Wine Cellars in Napa.

She currently works alongside her father at Coastal Products, a wine-packaging manufacturer & distributor, and is a Co-Founder at Concierge Package Services, a winery fulfillment company, in Sonoma.

Andy & Jennifer have three children (the ‘Family’ in Phipps Family Cellars) and reside in Napa.
